SENZA SENSITIVE SKIN DETERGENT: THE NATURAL ALLY FOR YOUR WASHING

Senza natural and ecological detergent is a detergent perfectly suited for sensitive skin due to its natural composition and limited number of ingredients to prevent the risk of allergic reactions or intolerance.

For the most fragile skin, choosing an eczema-friendly detergent, free of toxic or allergenic substances, is a necessity.

And choosing an environmentally friendly detergent is just as important.

What are the symptoms of an allergy or intolerance to detergent?

Many consumers complain of allergic reactions or intolerance to certain detergents found in supermarkets, including those labeled "sensitive skin" or "hypoallergenic". An allergy is a reaction of the immune system to certain substances, even seemingly harmless ones, which it identifies as a threat. The symptoms of an allergy can be more or less severe and affect the skin, digestive tract, respiratory tract and/or cardiovascular system. In the context of sensitivity to liquid detergents, skin and respiratory reactions have been observed.

Allergies or contact irritations

Allergies or contact irritations often manifest as redness, itching, pimples, sneezing, hives, or even eczema. It is direct exposure to the substances (in the form of residues present on washed clothes) that causes these skin reactions in the medium or long term when contact is regular.

Respiratory reactions

Respiratory reactions can even trigger an asthma attack, due to the effects of certain detergents on the bronchi and nose. A study highlighted the toxicity of industrial detergents on the tight junctions of bronchial epithelial cells. These immune system responses to exposure to the components of certain detergents can have consequences on the daily lives of people with sensitive skin or the most fragile (young children and pregnant women).

What causes allergies or irritations related to detergent?

Among the main factors of allergy or intolerance, there are two categories of products present in the composition of most detergents offered in supermarkets: fragrances and preservatives.

Fragrances

The fragrances contained in detergents can come from:

  • substances of natural origin, such as those found in essential oils and identifiable on product composition labels by these names: linalool, geraniol, eugenol, farnesol or citronellol, for example. These compounds also exist in synthetic form.
  • substances of synthetic origin, such as the following molecules: hydroxycitronellal, butylphenyl methylpropional or methyl 2-octynoate, for example.

Natural or synthetic, these ingredients are among the main allergenic fragrances used in the chemical industry that produces detergents.

Preservatives

Preservatives, widely used in the manufacture of liquid detergents, are considered highly allergenic. They can be of natural or synthetic origin (this is the case for benzyl alcohol), or only synthetic (this is the case for methylisothiazolinone). However, it is preservatives from the isothiazolinones family that present the most significant risk of allergy or irritation, especially when used over time.

Other substances present in the composition of detergents are considered toxic to health and/or the environment: this is the case for surfactants, such as sodium laureth sulfate, derived from coconut and palm oils, and additives, such as phosphonates or azo dyes.

Finally, it should be noted that the European Commission has established a list of 26 identified allergens and requires manufacturers of detergents to clearly mention them in the list of detergent ingredients.

Detergent for atopic sensitive skin

Senza ecological detergent: a composition that respects sensitive skin!

Senza ecological detergent is a fragrance-free detergent, local and made from natural and organic ingredients. Its composition is restricted, as it contains the minimum of elements, just what is needed to guarantee an effective product.

Senza natural detergent is:

  • more than 30% Aqua, this is the minimum percentage of water contained in the preparation, making it the main ingredient;
  • 5% to 15% anionic surfactant, derived from saponified organic sunflower oil, this is the ingredient that provides the cleaning function;
  • sodium carbonate, it serves to soften the water, which enhances the cleaning work;
  • glycerin, a residue of the saponification reaction of vegetable oils, has softening and stain-removing properties;
  • sodium chloride, aka "table salt", it acts as a thickener and preservative.

All ingredients in our natural liquid detergent are respectful of health and the environment.

Handcrafted in our Parisian workshop, and composed of 100% organic and natural ingredients, Senza natural detergent has the Nature & Progrès label, a very strict label regarding respect for the environment, humans, and animals.

How to use Senza ecological detergent for sensitive skin?

Free of allergens, it is suitable for all skin types, atopic, sensitive or fragile. It is also ideal to use as a baby detergent. Senza natural liquid detergent can be used to wash all types of laundry, by machine or by hand.

Machine washing

For machine washing, a guide, present on the bottle (or drum) allows you to adjust the amount of product according to the hardness of your water and the degree of soiling of your laundry. The indications are given for a machine of approximately 5 kgs. The cap of the 1L bottle is graduated to facilitate the measurement of the liquid (0 to 50 ml).

Hand washing

For hand washing, for everyday clothes, we recommend adding about 25 ml of detergent per 10 liters of water. For delicate laundry (wool, for example), prefer 10ml for the same amount of water.

How much does Senza ecological detergent for sensitive skin cost?

At €7.80 per liter, Senza ecological detergent in 5-liter format (100 washes) represents the best value for money on the French market for ecological detergents for sensitive skin. Indeed, each wash costs €0.39, while using environmentally friendly components.

Sensitive skin detergent - FAQ

How do I know if my detergent is causing skin irritation?If you experience redness, itching, or other reactions after washing your laundry, this could be a sign that your detergent is not suitable for your skin. The main irritants are often the perfumes, dyes, and bleaching agents contained in traditional detergents. Why is Senza detergent suitable for sensitive skin?

Senza detergent is composed of a minimum of ingredients, all of natural origin and non-allergenic. This gentle formulation helps avoid the irritations and skin reactions often caused by traditional detergents.

What ingredients should be avoided in a sensitive skin detergent?

For sensitive skin, it is preferable to choose a fragrance-free, dye-free, and phosphate-free or bleaching agent-free detergent. Opt for formulas based on natural ingredients such as vegetable soap.

What certifications should I look for in sensitive skin detergents?Certifications such as Ecocert, Nature & Progrès, or even Cœur de Bretagne guarantee that the detergent has been formulated without irritating ingredients and with natural components. This provides assurance regarding the gentleness of the product for fragile skin.
