FAQ
What is black soap used for and how do you use it?
Black soap is a concentrated multi-purpose cleaner:
- Pre-treating laundry: apply undiluted to the stain, leave on for 5 to 10 min, then wash normally
- Floor cleaning: dilute 1 to 2 capfuls in a bucket of hot water
- Surfaces and countertops: dilute to 2-3% in water, apply with a sponge
- Cleaning windows and mirrors: a few drops in water, wipe with a microfibre cloth
- Kitchen degreasing: apply concentrated to greasy areas (hood, hobs), leave on and rinse
- Wood and parquet care: diluted in water, nourishes and cleans wooden surfaces
Black soap may thicken in winter — warm the bottle in hot water for a few minutes to restore its normal consistency.
What dosages should be used depending on the application?
- Pre-laundry stain treatment: pure, directly on the stain
- Floors and parquets: 1 to 2 capfuls (15-30 ml) per 5 L of water
- General surfaces: 1 capful (15 ml) per 1 L of water
- Intense degreasing: pure or diluted to 10%, leave on before rinsing
- Windows: 5 to 10 drops per 1 L of water
Black soap is highly concentrated — always start with the minimum dose and adjust according to the result.
Is black soap compatible with all surfaces?
Black soap is suitable for the vast majority of hard surfaces: tiles, concrete, stone, wood, stainless steel, windows, plastic. A few precautions:
- Marble and limestone: avoid pure black soap (slightly alkaline), prefer a very diluted solution
- Varnished or laminate flooring: use very diluted and do not let water stand
- Painted surfaces: test on a hidden area before widespread application
- Anodized aluminum: avoid prolonged contact
Can black soap be used on the skin?
Traditional black soap has been used for centuries for skin and hammam rituals. It is naturally exfoliating and purifying. For cosmetic use, it is applied diluted on the body, never undiluted on the face.
Our black soap is formulated for household cleaning — if you wish to use it on your skin, test it on a small area and use it highly diluted. For regular cosmetic use, please refer to our dedicated face and body soaps.
