đź’ˇ How is Organic Plum Oil obtained?
Plum oil is obtained by cold-pressing the kernel of the Ente plum.
The plums are harvested at maturity, then the kernels are extracted and cold-pressed to obtain high-quality oil.Â
This cold extraction process preserves all the beneficial properties of the oil.
To be certified organic, plum oil must be produced according to strict organic farming standards, without the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
At Senza, we have selected committed producers who cultivate plums in Lot-et-Garonne... organically, of course!

đź’¶ How much does organic plum oil cost?
There are few French producers of organic plum oil, and the extraction yield for plum oil is not very high, making it an expensive oil.
Other criteria can also impact the price offered to the consumer:
-
The extraction method: cold extraction better preserves the oil's properties but has a lower yield, making it more expensive than hot extraction.
 -
The production location: foreign labor is cheaper than in France, where workers are protected.
- The packaging offered: a glass bottle costs much more than a plastic bottle.
In France, the price of quality organic plum oil typically ranges between 15 and 40 euros for a 30 to 50ml bottle.
→ At Senza, our organic plum oil, made in France from 100% organic plums certified Nature & Progrès, is €16.90 for 50ml.
âś… What criteria should be considered when choosing organic plum oil?
Here are our recommendations for choosing your organic French plum oil:
1. Organic certification: Opt for a certified organic plum oil, preferably with a recognized label. The Nature & Progrès label is the strictest in the industry.
→ This guarantees that the oil has been produced according to strict organic farming standards, without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
2. Extraction process: Choose plum oil obtained by cold pressing. This process preserves the nutrients and beneficial properties of the oil.
3. Origin: Check the origin of the plums used to extract the plum oil. With French plums, you support short supply chains and the local economy.
4. Composition: Consult the list of ingredients to ensure there are no additives or undesirable substances. Plum oil is sufficient on its own.
5. Packaging: Returnable glass bottles can be cleaned and refilled as part of a circular zero-waste approach!
In summary, why does organic plum oil deserve a place in your daily skincare routine?
- It is a natural treatment, rich in vitamins and unsaturated fatty acids, and is sufficient on its own.
- It is suitable for all skin types.
- It is easy to use daily.
- At Senza, it's organic and French!
In short, it's the ultimate gentle oil that we invite you to try in your daily skincare routine!
And a little anecdote to finish!
Is a plum really not worth "counting for plums"? The expression dates back to the 12th century, when Crusaders returned from their expedition to Damascus with only plum trees, a laughable small loot for such a great adventure! The juicy fruits discovered there did not have the desired effect upon their return! "Compter pour des prunes" (to count for plums) then took on a pejorative meaning.
Great, now you know everything about plum oil!
